Erlang

A dimensionless unit of traffic intensity in telecommunications, equal to the average number of circuits or channels occupied at the same time. One erlang means a single channel is in use continuously, so a group of circuits that carries 30 call-minutes of traffic in one hour carries 0.5 erlang. A load of one erlang sustained for one hour is called one erlang-hour of traffic volume.
