Describing a railway line, track, or service intended for higher speeds and fewer stops compared to a parallel slow or local line. Fast lines are engineered with gentler curves, superior track quality, and advanced signaling to accommodate express passenger or priority freight trains. A railway corridor with four tracks will typically designate the outer pair for local services and the inner pair as the fast lines.
