Stopper
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-005680
A type of railway signal, also known as an absolute signal, that conveys a simple stop or proceed instruction to a train driver. When displaying its most restrictive aspect, such as a horizontal semaphore arm or a red light, a driver must not pass it without authorization. Unlike a distant signal which provides advance warning of the next signal's aspect, a stopper protects a specific block section, junction, or other potential conflict point.
