Fast track
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-002184
A track or railway line used by express trains, which run faster and call at fewer stations than local services. On a multi-track route the fast tracks are kept separate from the slow or local tracks, so stopping trains do not hold up the expresses. Its meaning is set by the service pattern, not by a minimum speed, so it does not imply a high-speed line.
