Gauntlet
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-002533
A section of railway track where two parallel tracks are brought so close together that the rails overlap, allowing trains to pass through a narrow space without the need for points or switches. This arrangement is used to overcome obstructions or to reduce track width temporarily, such as on bridges or in tunnels.
