Railroad track

The permanent way for trains, consisting of two parallel steel rails fixed at a consistent distance apart, known as the gauge. These rails are supported by ties or sleepers, which distribute the load to the ballast and subgrade. The entire structure provides a smooth and stable surface for train movement.
