Track gauge

The distance between the inner faces of the two rails of a railway track. This measurement is a fundamental parameter for railway systems, determining the compatibility of rolling stock and infrastructure. Standard gauge, at 1,435 mm (4 ft 8.5 in), is the most common track gauge worldwide.
