Stopper
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-013597
A bulky group covalently attached to the ends of a linear component, preventing its dethreading from a macrocyclic component in a rotaxane. This group is too large to pass through the cavity of the macrocycle. The presence of stoppers defines the mechanical interlocking of the components.
