Threadable ring
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-012021
A macrocyclic component of a rotaxane or pseudorotaxane that is capable of encircling a linear molecular component. This ring must have an internal cavity large enough to accommodate the threading component. The threading process involves the passage of the linear component through the macrocycle, forming a mechanically interlocked molecular architecture.
