Femtocoulomb

Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-002227

A unit of electric charge equal to 10^-15 coulomb, which corresponds to about 6,240 elementary charges. A single electron carries about 0.00016 femtocoulomb, or 0.16 attocoulomb. Femtocoulomb quantities occur in the charge stored on tiny capacitors, such as a one femtofarad capacitor charged to one volt, and in the signals of sensitive charge detectors.
