Grex

A name for all the seedlings produced by crossing the same two parent plants, used mainly for orchids. Seedlings from any number of separate crosses of the same parents belong to one grex, and they vary because each one is a distinct genetic individual. A single plant chosen from a grex and propagated as a clone is a cultivar, whose name is written after the grex name in single quotation marks.
