Hard error

A persistent and reproducible fault in a computer system or electronic device that indicates a permanent physical defect in hardware, such as a faulty memory chip or a damaged disk sector. Unlike a soft error, which is transient, a hard error will consistently recur under the same conditions. These errors often necessitate the replacement of the affected component.
