Soft error

A transient data corruption in a digital circuit or memory that does not indicate a permanent hardware defect. This type of error results from external factors such as cosmic rays or alpha particles interacting with semiconductor materials. It can cause a system malfunction but is typically corrected by re-executing the affected operation or by error correction codes.
