Lace machine

A specialized industrial loom that mechanizes the production of lace by twisting, braiding, or looping threads to create intricate openwork patterns. These machines replicate the complex hand movements of traditional lacemaking at high speeds, using bobbins, carriages, and guide bars to manipulate hundreds or thousands of threads simultaneously. The Leavers machine, developed in the early 19th century, is a well-known type capable of producing very fine and complex lace designs.
