Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-003672

A unit of time measurement equivalent to one-thousandth of a second (10⁻³ s). It is used to quantify the duration of very brief events in industrial processes, engineering tests, and digital communications, such as the response time of safety relays or network latency. Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) scan times are a key performance metric, often falling within a range of 1 to 100 milliseconds, depending on the complexity of the program.
