Nuclear hydrogen detection meter

Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-003946

An instrument that uses nuclear radiation principles, typically neutron moderation, to detect and quantify the presence of hydrogen-containing compounds. Fast neutrons are emitted and then slowed down by collisions with hydrogen atoms, with the number of thermalized neutrons detected being proportional to the hydrogen concentration. This meter is used in industrial applications such as moisture content measurement in materials or for detecting leaks of hydrogen-rich fluids.
