An abbreviation for overhaul, the work of disassembling an engine, propeller or other component, cleaning and inspecting it, repairing it as necessary, reassembling it and testing it to approved data. An overhauled item is brought to serviceable limits, which differs from a rebuilt item that must meet the tolerances of a new one. Under 14 CFR 43.2, only work following this sequence may be entered in the records as an overhaul.
