Open differential
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-004009
A type of differential gear assembly that allows the wheels on the same axle to rotate at different speeds, which is necessary for turning corners. It distributes torque equally to both wheels, but if one wheel loses traction, it receives all the power, leaving the other wheel stationary. This design is common in most passenger vehicles.
