Locking differential

Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-003397

A type of differential that can mechanically lock its internal gears, forcing both wheels on an axle to rotate at the same speed. This prevents power from being sent solely to the wheel with less traction, improving off-road capability and traction in slippery conditions. It is often found in four-wheel-drive vehicles.
