Diff lock

A mechanism that mechanically locks the two output shafts of a differential together, forcing them to rotate at the same speed. This feature is used in off-road vehicles and heavy equipment to provide maximum traction when one wheel loses grip. Engaging the diff lock prevents power from being sent solely to the wheel with the least resistance.
