OPRAF

A former UK government body, the Office of Passenger Rail Franchising, responsible for awarding and managing passenger rail franchises in Great Britain following the privatization of British Rail. It specified the minimum level of service required from private train operating companies and administered subsidy payments from the government. Established by the Railways Act 1993, its functions were transferred to the Strategic Rail Authority in 2001.
