The Outer Space Treaty of 1967, the founding agreement of international space law, formally the Treaty on Principles Governing the Activities of States in the Exploration and Use of Outer Space, including the Moon and Other Celestial Bodies. It bars nuclear weapons and other weapons of mass destruction from orbit and from celestial bodies, and it forbids national appropriation of the Moon and other bodies. It entered into force on 10 October 1967.
