Parison

A preliminary shape of glass, typically a hollow tube or solid gob, that is subsequently blown or pressed into a final glass product. It is formed by gathering molten glass onto a blowpipe or by pressing it into a mold. The parison's initial form dictates the distribution of glass in the final article, such as a bottle or jar.
