Parsec

A unit of astronomical distance, defined as the distance at which one astronomical unit subtends an angle of one arcsecond. This measurement is derived from the parallax method, where the apparent shift of a celestial object against a distant background is observed as the Earth orbits the Sun. One parsec is equivalent to approximately 3.26 light-years or 3.086 x 10^16 meters.
