Patch

A piece of material, often paper or film, applied to a printing plate or film negative to correct a defect, block out an unwanted area, or add a missing element. Patches are carefully positioned and adhered to modify the image before the plate is used for printing. This manual correction method is less common with modern digital prepress workflows.
