PATA

Parallel Advanced Technology Attachment, an interface standard for connecting storage devices like hard drives and optical drives to a computer's motherboard. It uses a wide ribbon cable with multiple data lines to transmit data in parallel. PATA was largely superseded by Serial ATA (SATA) due to SATA's thinner cables and faster transfer rates.
