A centrifugal pump that is operated in reverse to function as a hydraulic turbine for power generation. A Pump as Turbine (PAT) is a low-cost alternative to conventional turbines in small-scale hydropower and energy recovery applications, such as pressure reduction in water distribution networks. The power output and efficiency depend on the pump's original design characteristics and the specific head and flow conditions at the site.
