Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-005054
A computer bus interface that facilitates high-speed data transfer between a host system and storage devices. This serial technology replaced the older Parallel ATA (PATA) standard, offering improved data throughput, reduced cable bulk, and hot-swapping capabilities. It is the predominant interface for connecting internal hard disk drives, solid-state drives, and optical drives in modern computers, with current versions supporting speeds up to 6 gigabits per second (Gb/s).
