Payment terminal

A point-of-sale device that interfaces with payment cards to make electronic fund transfers. It reads information from a credit card's chip or magnetic stripe, or via a contactless method like near-field communication, and then encrypts the data for transmission to a payment processor. These terminals must comply with security standards such as the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) to protect cardholder data.
