Photolettering

A method of setting type using photographic processes, where characters are projected onto photosensitive paper or film. This technique allowed for greater flexibility in type size and style compared to traditional metal type. Photolettering was a precursor to digital typesetting and was prevalent before the advent of desktop publishing.
