Pleat

A fold in fabric that is pressed or stitched into place, creating fullness and decorative texture in a garment or textile item. Pleats are formed by doubling the fabric back upon itself and securing it at the top, allowing the fold to open below. Common types include knife pleats, box pleats, and accordion pleats, each offering a distinct aesthetic and drape.
