Smocking

An embroidery technique used in textile manufacturing to gather fabric into tight pleats and hold them in place with decorative stitches. This process creates elasticity and texture, allowing garments to stretch and conform to the body. Smocking is often applied to bodices, cuffs, and necklines of clothing, particularly in children's wear.
