Running stitch
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-005009
A basic hand-sewing technique that creates a simple, straight line of stitches by repeatedly passing the needle through the fabric. The needle moves in and out of the material, forming small, evenly spaced stitches on both sides. This stitch is commonly used for temporary basting, gathering fabric, or creating decorative outlines, and it is one of the easiest stitches to learn.
