Runout

The deviation of a rotating surface or axis from its ideal concentric or straight path. It measures the total variation indicated by a dial indicator when a part is rotated. Runout can be radial, axial, or total indicator runout, and excessive runout can lead to vibration, noise, and premature wear in machinery.
