Dial gauge

A precision measuring instrument used in automotive applications to measure small linear distances or displacements with high accuracy. It consists of a plunger that moves a needle on a circular dial, indicating measurements in thousandths of an inch or hundredths of a millimeter. Dial gauges are commonly used to check runout, end play, and valve lift.
