Shirr

To gather fabric into parallel rows of tight gathers, creating a decorative and elastic effect. This technique involves sewing multiple rows of stitches, often using elastic thread in the bobbin, to draw the fabric together. Shirring is frequently used on bodices, cuffs, and waistbands to provide shape and flexibility.
