Knife pleat

A type of sharp, narrow fold in fabric where all pleats are pressed in the same direction, creating a series of overlapping layers. To form a knife pleat, a section of fabric is folded over and creased, with the fold line of one pleat forming the underlap for the next. This pleating style is used in skirts, kilts, and draperies to add controlled fullness and a structured appearance.
