Protected membrane roof

A roofing system where the insulation layer is placed above the waterproofing membrane, protecting the membrane from temperature extremes, UV radiation, and mechanical damage. This configuration extends the lifespan of the membrane by shielding it from direct exposure to the elements. Ballast, such as gravel or pavers, typically holds the insulation in place.
