Punt

A solid metal rod, also known as a pontil, used by glassblowers to hold and manipulate a glass object during the finishing stages of its creation. The punt is attached to the base of the glass piece, allowing the gaffer to work on the rim or other details without touching the hot glass directly. It is typically made of steel and heated to a similar temperature as the glass.
