Punchdown

A method of terminating network or telephone cables by pushing the insulated wires into insulation-displacement connectors on a punchdown block or patch panel. A specialized tool cuts the excess wire and seats the conductor simultaneously, creating a reliable electrical connection. This technique is standard for structured cabling installations.
