A type of open-pit mine from which dimension stone, rock, construction aggregate, sand, or gravel is excavated from the ground. Unlike other mines, quarries extract non-metallic and non-fuel materials, primarily for building and construction purposes. Operations involve blasting, cutting, and crushing the rock, which is then transported from the site for processing or direct use.
