Hardrock

A general classification for mining operations that extract valuable minerals from solid, consolidated rock formations, as opposed to unconsolidated sediments. This method involves drilling, blasting, and crushing to liberate the ore. Examples of hardrock mining include the extraction of gold, copper, and iron from igneous or metamorphic rock.
