Lodestuff
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-003405
The mineralized material that fills a lode or vein, comprising both the valuable ore minerals and the associated non-economic gangue minerals. Miners extract the entire lodestuff from the surrounding country rock for processing. The economic viability of a lode depends on the concentration of ore within the lodestuff, which is determined through assaying samples to calculate the grade or tenor of the deposit.
