Racetracking
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-004648
A phenomenon in composite manufacturing where resin flows preferentially along the edges or gaps of a mold or preform, bypassing the intended fiber reinforcement. This creates resin-rich areas with reduced fiber content, leading to localized weaknesses and inconsistent material properties in the final part. It is a common issue in resin transfer molding and vacuum infusion processes.
