A designated area and process for emergency responders to rest, rehydrate, and receive medical monitoring during an extended incident. It is a key component of incident command systems for preventing heat stress, exhaustion, and other on-scene injuries. National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 1584 provides the standard on the rehabilitation process for members during emergency operations and training exercises.
