Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-004804

A measure of the ability of an optical instrument, such as a spectrometer or interferometer, to separate closely spaced wavelengths or frequencies. It quantifies how well the instrument can distinguish between two adjacent spectral lines. Resolvance is often expressed as the ratio of the wavelength to the smallest resolvable wavelength difference, λ/Δλ.
