The part of an aircraft wing or rotor blade that attaches to the fuselage or hub. This section experiences the highest bending loads and structural stress during flight, requiring it to be the thickest and strongest part of the airfoil. The wing root chord is the distance from the leading edge to the trailing edge at the point of attachment to the fuselage.
