Salt of tin

A chemical compound derived from tin, specifically stannous chloride (tin(II) chloride), used as a mordant in the dyeing and printing of textiles. As a mordant, it binds the dye to the fabric fibers, improving color fastness and enabling the creation of specific shades, particularly with natural dyes like cochineal for producing brilliant reds.
