Salt

A crystalline mineral composed primarily of sodium chloride (NaCl), which forms extensive sedimentary deposits known as evaporites. It is extracted through underground mining of rock salt layers or by solution mining, where water is injected to dissolve the salt and the resulting brine is pumped to the surface. Mined salt is used in chemical manufacturing, for de-icing roads, and in food processing.
