White liquor

The active cooking chemical solution used in the Kraft pulping process to separate cellulose fibers from lignin in wood. It is primarily composed of sodium hydroxide and sodium sulfide. This alkaline solution is highly corrosive and is regenerated in the chemical recovery cycle of a pulp mill.
